Pantone V. CMYK

As a sort of research for my current project based around pantone colours, I took some photos through a magnifying lens of a magazine cover to see how Pantone and CMYK printing processes look side by side. Having only learnt all about Pantone in the past few weeks, this kinda blew my mind :D

Dr Sketchy's

On Friday night I attented my very first Dr Sketchy's with my good friend Courtney (psst check out her blog too!). If you've never heard of Dr Sketchy's check it out here. I'm not a very big drawer. I sometimes doodle for fun but never really use it in my work. However, I had a lot of fun and came out with some stuff I really quite like :)

The Fields Cafe

I've also recently completed a logo for my boyfriend's parents cafe. This is my first freelance bit of work that will be used commercially. I had a few problems doing it, primarily because I don't do many logo designs, but I'm very pleased with the final result!

Mapping Project

For this project we had to map a song from a prepared list. I chose Koral by Oval. Click images for bigger versions!)

I'm also working on an animation using the same sort of imagery. I hope to get it completed soon!

Summer

Oh and here's my final animation for the 'Summer' project. Finally got it finished after many a toil but it was worth it! My tutors liked it and I have to say (after hating it to begin with) I've come to like it too.

The Doctor

Long time, no speak! I've been immensely busy and this blog fell to the side a tad. But I'm hoping to start it back up properly again. So, onwards!

Some more playing with After Effects. I'm very slowly learning it. This is based on a logo I created last year for a uni project. We had to create a logo for a chracter from TV or film and I always wanted to take it further into an animation so, here it is!

This is the original logo:

Zenit-E

As well as Graphic Design I'm a keen photographer and often use it in lots of my design work. Here are some images taken with a film SLR, the Zenit-E. This is my favourite camera, especially because I can play around with exposing the film as you can see! I'm a great fan of colour, so this risky experimentation produces vibrant light leaks which I love.

Night

Experimenting some more with After Effects.

The idea for this came from this picture I took last year using a Zenit E analogue camera. I also manipulated it in the darkroom adding the text.

Step Out of the Gloom

I am attempting to teach myself Adobe After Effects primarily for motion graphics work. This is something I want to feature heavily in my work next year so I'm getting a head start this summer holiday and trying to learn some basics. This is my first attempt at some moving text.

Hello!

I'm starting this blog primarily to track my own work progress, as I study for my degree in Graphic Design. It will also be a place for showing things (not just design) that I admire and want to share with any who will read. Don't expect too much writing, I like things nice and simple! I hope you enjoy what I hope to be at least a slightly interesting addition to the blog world :)
