YCN Awards invites have arrived :)

SEAWAVES




I've been working with a friend of mine who is an amazing musician to do some album covers for some future and past albums. The first of which being SEAWAVES. I've utilized my own photography in this as we think the slightly grainy, desatured look created by my Zenit is perfect for the music.

I've also started work on another. This is a very very early draft.

I got a letter a while back from the lovely people at YCN informing me of my commended work for the 2011 Student Competition. It was letterpressed and gorgeous.





I was surprised to also get some feedback directly from Ted Baker:

"Ted is well versed in optical illusion as a thematic device for eyewear campaigns, so we were both surprised and delighted to see Katherine's unique and imaginative 'See the Spectacle'. Her response combines surreal humour with a sense of theatre whilst still retaining a simple, effective and 'eye-cathhing' idea that's absolutely right for the Ted Baker brand."

I'm incredibly looking forward to the awards, being held in Shoreditch Town Hall of all places!

So I've had an amazing week for good news!



My work for the Ted Baker YCN competion has been selected for commendation. You can see my name here for Manchester Met! http://awards.ycnonline.com/news/post/2010-11-ycn-student-awards-winners-announced/



I've also been offered a placement with the amazing Nik and Carole. They're a small design studio based in Altrincham who specialize in beautiful packaging. I'm so excited to work with them, and just can't wait for it to start!

Exciting times

Not had much time for creating recently. Finishing uni has led straight in working lots more hours. I have a possible exciting opportunity coming up though, regarding a placement at a design studio. Keep your fingers crossed for me on 6th June!

Strangely enough I'm getting into reading for my dissertation pretty early. I'm looking into the relationship of photography and design. Not sure where it will lead me just yet but i'm enjoying the reading so far!
